My internet is down again!!!!!!!!
**SIGH**......My internet is down again and this time for close to 1 week liao. Aiyo..why does this always happen to me. For those who don't know me, i am very dependent on my internet cos that is my only source of entertainment at home. I don't usually go out much cos i am broke most of the time. Even when during my richer days, my friends will all be occupied with their own affairs. Kind of lonely leh. Maybe time to get a GF and settle down. Hmmm...but no one want me leh..and thats what i reply when my friends ask me why i don't have a GF yet...haha...Maybe it is just not my time yet lah....Sigh...
Anyway, back to my internet. It was down on last Wednesday. It is already showing some problems when i try to connect that morning before i leave for work. But it got disconnected every 5 mins. Got fedup and switch it off and leave for work. By the time i got back that noon, my sister is already complaining to me that she can't even get it connected. I check the hardware connection and everything seem to be alright. I saw the "WAN" light keep blinking and thought maybe my modem cable is spolit and went to buy one to make a replacement but it is still the same. In the end, i surrender and called Singnet BoardBand HelpDesk. After waiting like 5 mins, i finally spoke to the operator. I told him that I had connection problem and that the "WAN" on my modem is blinking. They said that it might be a problem with my home line and request to send a technician down to check. We make an appointment on Friday 4pm to 6pm.
Then the next day, when i came home from work again, I went to try out the modem again by switching on it and see if it can be stable. Surprisingly, the "WAN" light is stable and not blinking. I immediately try to connect to intenet with my rounter connected to it but it don't work. I called Singnet again and explained the stituation to them.They advised me to bypass the router and connect the modem directly to my computer. I did and it work. So they say for the time being i can use the internet like that while waiting the technician to come and check my line. Everything went well and by Friday it is still alright. So i though maybe something is wrong with my router. After the technician come and checked on my line and comfirm that it is working well, i call Singnet again asking for help. They offer the same theory that something is wrong with my router configuration and asked me to check the configuration and try it out first. As i could not find my router manual, i could not check the configuration as i do not know how. I thought of asking my father where he keep the manual when he come home from work at night and leave it as it is for the time being. Although i did managed to get hold on the manual later at night, i still do not know how to check the configuration. So i thought of asking my Dad to arrange for his friend who setup our house wireless connection to come and help. Thus, for the time being again, i had to leave it as it is.
Then Saturaday came and when i woke up in the morning, my sister complained that the "WAN" light is blinking again and thus no connection again. Later that day, i got a call from Singnet Helpdesk to do a follow up on my case and i complained to them that the line when dead again. They said they want to do a "ping" for my line but as i was not at home at that time, they had request me to call them again after i reached home. I thought i might as well monitor the case for 1 day to see if the line come back again as it did during the first time it failed. So by Sunday, the line is still the same. I give up and called Singnet again. After telling them everything again and offer my theory to them that the fault was intermitant and they will not find any fault when they came last time cos the faukt is not there at that point of time. They operator did not what to do next and seek help from his Supervisor. His Supervisor request to send technician down again to check my line and it is arrange to be on Tuesday 4pm to 6pm. Lets hope I get some answer to the fault this time.
Out of curiousity, anyone using Singnet Boardband out there? Did anyone encounter problem like after you are connected and start using for 5 mins and the most 1 hour, the connection seem to be disconnected although it is shown at the bottom right corner by the small computer that it is connected. You will not be able to surf, download emails, MSN, ICQ, etc. You will have to reboot the computer and modem for it to work again and it will happen again after 5 mins to 1 hour. I was offered many theories like not compatible to Win XP, kana virus, etc. Anyone had this happened to you like me? Then after i changed to wireless connecting my main PC to my laptop and another PC in my dad's room, i will ahd to reboot at least 3 times before the connection get working again and it would last only 1 to 2 hours the most before it got disconnected again. Any IT experts out there who can offer some help to my problems? Or anyone who had similar fate and had a solution to it already?
